Research Trends in Programming Education: A Systematic Review of the Articles Published Between 2012-2020

This study examines the methodological dimensions of programming education articles published in educational sciences journals indexed SSCI by exploring their general trends. To do this, 162 between January 2012 and February 2020 30 international were analyzed with a systematic review method using "Educational Technology Publication Classification Form" as data collection tool. The results revealed that most studies this field conducted United States Turkiye. number these has increased since 2015, those carried out quantitative research methodology. Mostly questionnaires achievement tests used tool, convenience sampling was used, descriptive analyses adopted to analyze data. As result, examined showed positively contributes learners' learning success levels development computational thinking skills. We believe will shed light on future related education.
